Vytal Health

What is Vytal Health?

Vytal Health is a telemedicine company that brings you whole person health to the comfort of your home or office. Our model allows you to say goodbye to the waiting rooms, rushed appointments, and leaving without answers. All our physicians are trained in functional medicine and in creating personalized treatment plans specific to you and your needs. Our services include virtual appointments, in-home lab testing and personalized supplements. We help get to the root cause of your health problems, find you answers, and partner with you to help you feel good and stay healthy.

What is whole person health and functional medicine?

We approach whole person health through Functional Medicine. This is an approach to health care that focuses on solving your health problems by identifying the root cause, rather than covering your symptoms with prescriptions. It requires a detailed understanding of your health history, along with personalized, in-depth testing. Treatment approaches address lifestyle factors and use natural approaches first, then medications if needed.

How do I know which doctor is right for me?

Finding the right doctor is the first step in the process of getting started with Vytal Health. You’re more than welcome to view our clinicians’ profiles to learn more about them and to see if they are a good fit. We recommend setting up a call with one of our care coordinators who can help direct you in selecting the right doctor for you. Simply book a call with them and they’d be happy to help answer your questions!

How will I see my doctor?

All our consultations are done over video visits (much like FaceTime or Zoom). We respect your time. There is no need for you to drive long distances, interact with multiple clinic staff, and sit in a crowded waiting room.

The most important skill that functional medicine physicians have to uncover the underlying root causes of your health problem is their ability to listen, and this can be conveniently completed via video visits.

How do your payment plans work?

When it comes to your health, we know that an ongoing relationship with the right doctor makes all the difference. We want to encourage you to meet regularly with your Vytal Health physician and get the attention you deserve. During your first year with us, you’ll meet with your Vytal Health physician frequently during the first six months to quickly and thoroughly address your condition and symptoms. Thereafter, as you begin to feel better, you’ll spread out your visits. We created our payment plan to spread the cost of care over the year, making it easier on your budget.

How much does it cost?

The payment plan for your initial care (first six months) is $200/mo. Thereafter, your ongoing care is $125/mo.

What’s included?

During the initial care phase (first six months), you get:

  • 4 visits with your doctor, including an hour-long initial consultation so you can dig deeply into your symptoms, lifestyle, and health history. Visits are 30-60 minutes long
  • Secure messaging with your care coordinator and physician
  • 20% discount on at-home lab test kits and physician-grade supplements, as well as deep discounts on in-lab blood draws through LabCorp
  • Access to health coaching and functional nutrition consulting (separate charge)

During the ongoing phase (after month six) you get:

  • 3 to 6 visits with your doctor per year (depending on length of the appointment)
  • Secure messaging with your care coordinator and physician
  • 20% discount on at-home lab test kits and physician-grade supplements, as well as deep discounts on in-lab blood draws through LabCorp
  • Access to health coaching and functional nutrition consulting (separate charge)
What's not included?

Because Vytal Health physicians are not in-network, lab tests, radiology tests (e.g., x-rays, ultrasounds, CT or MRI scans), and other medical care that can be billed to your insurance is not included the the Vytal Health payment plan.

Can I cancel?

Yes, you have the flexibility to cancel at any time, and there are no cancellation fees. However, please note that due to the nature of our payment plans, we do require that all visits that have already occurred must be paid in full at the time of cancellation.

Our hourly fees are:

$500 per 60-minute physician visit; $250 per 30-minute physician visit

$250 per 60-minute nutritionist visit; $125 per 30-minute nutritionist visit

$150 per 60-minute health coach visit; $75 per 30-minute health coach visit

Financial

Do you take insurance?

We believe it is important to work for our patients, not for their insurance companies. That’s why we do not accept insurance and are able to provide the level of care that our patients want. Many of our patients choose to pay for their care using HSA/FSA dollars.

We will however, work to find ways to utilize your insurance when we can for things like labs, ultrasounds, prescriptions, and referrals.

With telemedicine on the rise, some individuals are finding coverage for telemedicine services and we are happy to provide you a superbill (paperwork to submit to your insurance) to file a claim. Just let your care coordinator know you would like a superbill for your services after your visit with your Vytal Health physician.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Absolutely! If you have an HSA or FSA plan as part of your high-deductible health plan, you can use these funds to cover our lab tests for a variety of conditions, supplements, and your monthly payments.

If you aren’t sure if you have an FSA or HSA account, contact your employer human resources department.

How much does lab testing cost?

With our personalized approach to providing you care, our lab costs will range. Our patients typically spend $100-$500 on in-home lab testing, however, some lab testing can be done at your local lab, using your insurance. Even better, if you have a high deductible or no insurance, we make getting blood work easier with exceptionally discounted prices through our partnership with a national lab. For example, a vitamin D level that would typically cost $200-$250 (before insurance) we can offer to you for $20 (prices are for example only, and are subject to change).

Our care coordinators are ready to assist you in finding the most affordable option for you with your lab testing.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointments?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment right from your patient portal. You can also send a message to your care coordinator, email us at hello@vytalhealth.com, or call us at (855) 998-4900.

If prior notification is not given, we will deduct scheduled duration of your appointment from your total time.

General

Why hasn't my regular doctor ever taken this approach?
If you’ve ever tried to discuss your fatigue, mood changes, gut issues, or difficulty sleeping with your doctor and walked out with a stack of prescriptions, you are not alone. There is simply not enough time in a rushed medical visit to be helpful for many kinds of health problems, especially those that require digging a little deeper.

Many doctors simply aren’t trained to provide this level of care. We find this approach as frustrating as you do–so we set out to fix it. At Vytal Health, our physicians have the training, compassion, and curiosity to understand your symptoms in depth, take the time to listen, and get you on the path to feeling healthy again.

Can I see my doctor in person?

All our consultations are done over video visits (much like FaceTime or Zoom). We respect your time. There is no need for you to drive long distances, interact with multiple clinic staff, and sit in a crowded waiting room.

If your physician believes you need to be seen in person for an exam, they will advise you to be seen by an in-person physician at a clinic, urgent care site, or emergency room depending on the severity of your symptoms.

What kinds of medications do your physicians prescribe?

Our doctors are able to prescribe most traditional medicine prescriptions and are happy to review what kind of support your body might need from prescription drugs. Many of our physicians have obtained extra training in the appropriate prescribing of hormone replacement treatments, including bioidentical hormones. Vytal Health physicians also approach thyroid prescribing in a personalized fashion, and include medications like Armour Thyroid, NP-Thyroid, and Nature-Throid, as well as compounded thyroid medications in their practices. Other compounded medications like Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) and allergen-free medications are commonly prescribed by Vytal Health physicians.

Note: Our Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are sometimes unable to prescribe medications due to licensure restrictions in some states. We can help you navigate this situation if a prescription is needed.

What kind of lab testing do you do?
We happily offer testing for a variety of conditions including thyroid, fertility, adrenal fatigue, hormones, food sensitivity, GI (gastrointestinal) comprehensive evaluations, SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), neurotransmitters, COVID-19, mycotoxins, mold, and more. Most of these tests can all be done in the comfort of home with our lab kits. Our kits come with all the shipping materials to send to the appropriate labs making testing easy and convenient. Some lab testing can be done at your local lab, using your own insurance and if needed, your care coordinator can help you find a lab for you for this testing.
What methods does Vytal Health employ to promote inclusivity and diversity?
At Vytal Health we practice equitable care, meaning the care provided is based on medical need and is not influenced by factors such as race, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. Our providers are culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of patients from diverse backgrounds. This includes understanding different cultural practices and beliefs to provide the best care possible.
